Custom Radius PVC SWEEPS

Any radius. Any size. Any quantity. Our custom sweeps and bends keep projects on schedule with smooth pulls and code compliant performance.

Custom Radius Bends

Custom Radius PVC Sweeps are engineered to meet unique project requirements where standard elbows and sweeps won’t fit.

Designed for smooth cable transitions, these bends reduce friction and tension, making wire pulls easier and safer. From large-scale utility runs to complex duct bank configurations, custom elbows deliver precision and reliability.

Available in Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC, our custom radius bends are manufactured to meet or exceed NEMA TC-2 and UL 651 standards.

Contractors can specify radius, angle, and size to match project conditions, ensuring exact fit and consistent performance. Each elbow is resistant to corrosion, moisture, and sunlight, providing long-term durability in both above-ground and underground installations.

Central Conduit partners with leading U.S. manufacturers such as JM Eagle and Atkore to produce custom radius elbows quickly and accurately, minimizing downtime and costly field modifications.

Whether you need expedited production, large-quantity orders, or one-off specialty bends, we provide dependable supply and nationwide delivery. With flexible options and reliable quality, our custom elbows help keep critical projects moving forward.

Custom Radius PVC Sweeps and Bends FAQ

A custom PVC sweep is a long radius bend made to a specific radius and angle instead of a standard “catalog” elbow.
We match the sweep to your duct bank layout or cable pulling requirements so the bend is as gentle as you need it to be.

They are all changes in direction in a conduit run, but in the trade we use them differently:

  • PVC Elbow
A standard, factory-made fitting at a fixed angle.
    • Common angles: 90°, 45°, 30°, 22.5°, 11.25°
    • Standard, relatively tight radius
    • Catalog item pulled right off the shelf
When someone says “grab a 2 inch 90,” they usually mean a standard elbow.
  • PVC Sweep
A long-radius elbow designed to make cable pulling easier.
    • Same angles (90°, 45°, etc.), but with a much larger radius
    • Used in duct banks, long pulls, and high-value feeders
      Example: a “6×90×96” is a 6 inch, 90 degree sweep with a 96 inch center line radius.
All sweeps are elbows, but not all elbows are sweeps.
  • PVC Bend
A more general term that usually means either:
    1. Any change of direction in a run
      • “You’ve got too many bends in that conduit.”
    2. A custom-formed radius or angle
      • Non-standard radii (for example 300 inch, 600 inch, 1800 inch)
      • Non-standard angles (for example 60°, 75°)
On engineered jobs, “custom bends” usually means bends made to match a specific radius shown on the drawings.

How we use it at Central Conduit:

“Custom bend” for project-specific radii and angles bent to match your duct bank design or cable pulling requirements

“Elbow” for standard catalog fittings

“Sweep” for long-radius elbows used for easier pulls

Absolutely. Every sweep we sell is mandrel tested. We will provide you with a drawing of the mandrel we will use when providing your quote. If you have specific mandrel requirements, let us know that and we can be sure to use the mandrel you want.

To quote and fabricate accurately, we need:

  • Trade size (for example: 2 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch)
  • Schedule (Sch 40 or Sch 80)
  • Angle (for example: 22.5°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°)
  • Centerline radius (for example: 96 inch, 120 inch, 180 inch, or as shown on plans)
  • Quantity and need by date
  • Job location and whether it is going in concrete encasement or direct burial

If you have a detail from the engineer, sending a marked up PDF with the callout circled is ideal.

Central Conduit can produce any size, any radius, any quantity.

We supply custom sweeps in the common electrical trade sizes used on utility, data center, and solar work.
Typical centerline radii start at standard 36 and 48 inch and go up into very large radii for long, gentle bends.

If you have an unusual radius on the plans, send it over. Our fabricators work with a wide range of radii and can match the design or propose the closest practical option.

The PVC conduit we use for sweeps is manufactured to UL 651 and NEMA TC 2 and is suitable for use in systems designed to comply with NEC Article 352.

As with any installation, final code compliance depends on how the system is designed and installed in the field. If you have a specific spec section or submittal requirement, send it with your quote request so we can match it.

Yes. A larger radius creates a gentler bend, which reduces friction and sidewall pressure on the cable.

For long underground runs, large feeders, or sensitive cable, using long radius and custom radius sweeps can:

  • Reduce pulling tension
  • Lower the risk of insulation damage
  • Make re-pulls and future upgrades less painful

If you share your duct layout, we can help you choose radii that are more cable friendly than standard short elbows.

Standard radius sweeps are often available quickly.
Custom radii are made to order and normally require production time plus freight.

For emergency needs, we can work with our bending crews and trucking partners to build and ship on very short notice when the schedule truly cannot slip. Tell us your real drop dead date so we can plan production and trucking correctly.

Absolutely. Central Conduit supplies any size, any schedule, any radius, in any quantity.

Absolutely. At Central Conduit we don’t believe in sweeps that have two plain ends. Two plain ends increases the labor required to install them, increases the time to install due to gluing cure time, increases the cost as you now need a coupler, and increases the junctions that could fail. In our book, two plain ends are a bad deal. We don’t sell them unless specifically requested by the customer.

All sweeps we provide have a single plain end and a bell or socket on the other end.

Yes. We can:

  • Match a specified centerline radius from the plans
  • Match a bend schedule that your engineer or cable manufacturer has already approved
  • Approximate the radius of an existing steel or PVC coated GRC bend if you provide measurements or a template

The more detail you provide, the closer we can match it.

We primarily work with:

  • Schedule 40 PVC electrical conduit
  • Schedule 80 PVC electrical conduit where higher mechanical protection is needed

If your spec calls out a specific manufacturer or standard, include that in your request and we will align with it wherever possible.

Custom sweeps are produced to practical tolerances ±2° and suitable for underground electrical work and concrete encasement.

Angles are formed to the requested degree within normal fabrication tolerances of ±2°, and radii are controlled so that the duct bank lines up and can be formed consistently. If you have a critical alignment or extremely tight tolerance, point that out so we can address it up front.

Custom sweeps are shipped on pallets or bundled for flatbed or Conestoga delivery, depending on size and quantity.

On large jobs, we can:

  • Tag or group sweeps by area or pull
  • Coordinate with your laydown yard for unloading conditions
  • Work with your schedule so crews are not waiting for a truck

If your site has tight access or unloading restrictions, tell us early so we can plan the right trucking and packaging.

Yes. We can build a package that includes:

  • Standard 90s and 45s where they are fine
  • Long radius or custom radius sweeps where cable pulls are critical
  • Matching couplings and accessories so the whole run is complete when the truck shows up

That approach usually gives you the best balance of cost and performance.

Most custom sweeps are designed for underground or encased duct banks.
If you plan to use them above ground, we need to know the environment so we can confirm that the material and schedule are appropriate.

For anything exposed, subject to impact, or in high UV environments, check with your engineer and local code requirements.

Send us:

  • Trade size and schedule
  • Angle and centerline radius
  • Quantity and need by date
  • Job name and location
  • Any drawings or details that show the bend

From there, we will confirm feasibility, lead time, and pricing, and help you adjust radii if there is a better option for cable pulling.
